Scottish Wildlife

November 5, 2026 Roly Infomatic, Regional, Scotland - General, Wildlife

Scotland’s varied landscapes support iconic wildlife, including red deer, mountain hares, wildcats, seals, dolphins, otters, eagles, ospreys, and red squirrels. Understanding habitats, seasonal adaptations, territorial behavior, and field signs improves identification while minimizing disturbance. Responsible observation requires quiet techniques, safe distances, telephoto optics, and respect for feeding, breeding, and resting areas. Following the Scottish Outdoor Access Code helps protect vulnerable species, ancient habitats, and ecosystem resilience for future generations of visitors and naturalists.
